What You’ll Get Out of This Opportunity
The Superintendent assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The Superintendent is responsible for providing overall day-to-day on-site administration and technical management on construction projects. Maintain and direct the coordination of subcontractor activity. The position will require independent problem solving, decision making and the implementation of standard construction procedures as well as NEC’s field procedures to meet and support onsite construction project requirements as well as client needs. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is flexible and adaptable. The Superintendent reports directly to the General Superintendent or one of our Senior Superintendents.
What You’ll Do
- Ability to fully understand and carry out New England Construction’s construction procedures and ensure consistency on job sites. Executes work procedures, interprets specifications, and coordinates various phases of construction to prevent delays and provides assistance with client demands.
- Ensures that the day-to-day coordination of all subcontractors on the jobsite to turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule.
- Responsible for running and coordinating weekly onsite meetings including Subcontractor coordination meetings, owner/architect meetings, and internal team meetings.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of plans and contract documents to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they arise.
- Thorough knowledge of the RFI, submittal, and change order process and ability to review vendor drawings and submittals.
- Work directly with the Project Manager with project start up and jobsite initial set up including, but not limited to site analysis, cost estimating, construction planning, logistic planning and scheduling. Attend all project start up meetings as necessary.
- Establish and maintain the project quality files and documentation systems to NEC standards.
- Prepare daily construction reports using Procore Software. Record information such as personnel, production or operation data on specific forms.
- Manages the day-to-day coordination of subcontractors on the jobsite to turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule. Coordinate and manage general conditions work and project logistics
- Executes work procedures, interprets specifications, and may coordinate specific phases of construction to prevent delays and provides assistance with client demands.
- Monitors and enforces field work to ensure compliance with safety regulations, company standards, procedures, specifications and codes. Manage and perform weekly safety inspections. Must be able to create and maintain a safety first environment.
- Develops detailed work plans, schedules, and status reports including developing and implementing complete project schedules to ensure required dates are met. Ability to work collaboratively and conduct pull planning session(s) with subcontractors to get buy-in. Update 3 week lookahead on a weekly basis and share with Project Manager. Immediately notify the PM of any delays or budget issues and communicate schedule updates and changes to the Project Team.
- Must be able to effectively manage project closeout including successful completion of punchlist. Responsible of preparation of final records for the project such as closeout manuals with Project Engineer as needed
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule construction of all site activities.
- Meet bi-annually at a minimum with the General Superintendent to review work on personal goals and provide update on projects.
- Perform various responsibilities as assigned by the General Superintendent and/or the VP of Operations.
- Participate in New England Construction training programs as required.
- Requires travel to other New England states based on project demand.
- Must be able perform other related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
- Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
- Expert understanding of construction methods and installation sequencing.
- Experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling and cost control
- Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and processes.
- Ability to work with numerous contractors and sub-contractors in an efficient manner.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite required.
- Customer relationship focus.
- Flexible, adaptable, and can-do team-player.
- Adjust effectively to work within new structures, processes, requirements and culture
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Thorough knowledge of safety regulations
- Knowledge and ability necessary to oversee layout and surveying activities.
- Commercial construction project experience required.
- Experience on multiple projects valued between $500,000-$5 million required.
What You’re Bringing to the Table
- High School Diploma
- OSHA 30 required.
- Degree from an accredited college or university program preferred
- 6+ years’ experience in Commercial Construction experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
