The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects related to production facilities, pipeline systems, and tank batteries. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget while supporting operational reliability and production goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee construction and installation of pipelines, compressor stations, production facilities, and tank batteries
- Manage all field construction activities including contractor supervision, scheduling, and quality control
- Design and coordinate facility layouts, pipeline routes, and tank battery configurations
- Coordinate with Land, Engineering, and Operations teams to establish infrastructure locations, and facility placements
- Work with electrical providers and utilities to ensure proper infrastructure at wellsites and facilities (including SWD systems)
- Track project costs, materials, and contractor performance; report progress to management
- Troubleshoot construction and operational issues related to pipelines and production equipment
- Support commissioning, startup, and integration of new facilities and systems
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and workover support activities as needed
- Maintain daily construction and operational reporting (e.g., cost tracking, progress updates)
- Support special projects including emissions reduction initiatives, fuel gas systems, and other infrastructure development
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated initiative and drive
- Strong knowledge of midstream and upstream construction, including pipelines, facilities, and tank batteries
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, facility layouts, and P&IDs
- Strong leadership and contractor management skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in field environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing demands
- Strong organizational, reporting, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of production operations and maintenance practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 10+ years of oil & gas construction, field operations, or related experience (extensive field experience preferred)
- Proven experience with:
- Pipeline construction and installation
- Production facility and tank battery construction
- Field operations and project management
- Prior supervisory or superintendent-level experience preferred
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Workload is dynamic and field-driven, often changing daily based on project priorities and operational needs. Work is performed primarily in outdoor construction environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, active job sites, and remote locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in West Texas / New Mexico environments
- Climb ladders, work at heights, and navigate active construction sites
- Extended periods of walking, standing, and bending
- Ability to wear required PPE (FR clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, respirator if required)
