Job summary

Pacer Group is seeking a Construction Specialist to support OSP telecom projects in the Portland area. This field-based role will conduct quality audits on coaxial (HFC) and fiber optic networks, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

Approximately 80% of duties are in the field, with 20% remote administrative work from a home office to document records and update project files. Travel throughout the territory and overnight stays are expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality audits on completed telecom construction projects across assigned territories.
• Inspect outside plant infrastructure including nodes, power supplies, fiber, taps, enclosures, and other network components.
• Verify completed construction meets engineering and quality standards.
• Identify construction deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to partners and contractors.
• Review completed rework and verify repairs are completed accurately and on time.
• Complete audit documentation and close out assignments.
• Utilize Microsoft Office, Teams, Smartsheet, and P2 for daily reporting and tracking.
• Participate in Teams meetings and communicate with contractors and partners as needed.
• Remain available during business hours to assist with troubleshooting and inspections.
• Manage multiple audit assignments across locations, working independently.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Specialist to support outside plant (OSP) telecom construction projects throughout the Portland, OR region. This is a field-based position responsible for performing quality audits on completed telecom construction work involving both coaxial (HFC) and fiber optic networks.

This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in telecom construction who are comfortable working independently, traveling throughout the assigned territory, and ensuring construction work meets quality and engineering standards.

Approximately 80% of the role is field work conducting construction audits, while 20% involves administrative work from a home/remote office to complete documentation, update project records, and receive additional assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality audits on completed telecom construction projects across assigned territories.
• Inspect outside plant infrastructure including:

Travel Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout the Portland, OR territory is required.
• Some project locations may be 3 to 4 hours from the assigned area.
• Overnight travel may be required, with hotel accommodations provided by the client.
• Mileage reimbursement is provided.
• Reliable personal transportation is required.
• Approximately 80% field work and 20% remote administrative work.
• Independent role with a geographically dispersed team.
• No two days are the same. Candidates should be comfortable managing changing assignments, traveling to multiple job sites, and working autonomously while maintaining regular communication with internal teams and business partners.
