Pacer Group is seeking a Construction Specialist in the Pittsburgh, PA region to perform quality audits on telecom construction projects involving coaxial (HFC) and fiber optic networks. This field-based role requires travel and independent work with 80% field activity and 20% remote administrative tasks from a home office.

The ideal candidate will have experience in outside plant construction, strong documentation skills, and the ability to read telecom prints.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform quality audits on completed telecom construction projects across assigned territories.
• Inspect outside plant infrastructure including nodes, power supplies, fiber, taps, enclosures, and other network components.
• Verify completed construction meets engineering and quality standards.
• Identify construction deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to partners and contractors.
• Review completed rework and verify repairs have been completed on time.
• Complete audit documentation and close out assignments.
• Utilize Microsoft Office, Teams, Smartsheet, and P2 for reporting and tracking.
• Participate in Teams meetings and communicate with contractors and partners as needed.
• Remain available during normal business hours for troubleshooting.
• Manage multiple audits across locations while working independently.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Specialist to support outside plant (OSP) telecom construction projects throughout the Pittsburgh, PA region. This is a field-based position responsible for performing quality audits on completed telecom construction work involving both coaxial (HFC) and fiber optic networks.

This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in telecom construction who are comfortable working independently, traveling throughout the assigned territory, and ensuring construction work meets quality and engineering standards.

Approximately 80% of the role is field work conducting construction audits, while 20% involves administrative work from a home/remote office to complete documentation, update project records, and receive additional assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality audits on completed telecom construction projects across assigned territories.
• Inspect outside plant infrastructure including:

• Fiber

• Other HFC and fiber network components
• Verify completed construction meets engineering and quality standards.

• Manage multiple audit assignments across various locations while working independently.

Required Qualifications

Travel Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout the Pittsburgh, PA territory is required.
• Some project locations may be 3 to 4 hours from the assigned area.
• Overnight travel may be required, with hotel accommodations provided by the client.
• Mileage reimbursement is provided.
• Reliable personal transportation is required.
• Approximately 80% field work and 20% remote administrative work.
• Independent role with a geographically dispersed team.
• No two days are the same. Candidates should be comfortable managing changing assignments, traveling to multiple job sites, and working autonomously while maintaining regular communication with internal teams and business partners.
