Job summary

Impellam Group, via its Bartech Staffing brands, seeks a Construction Specialist to oversee field activities on a power plant project in Indiana. You will ensure adherence to drawings and specifications, coordinate with site teams, and liaise with Discipline Engineers on construction issues.

The role requires oversight of civil/earthwork, rebar, concrete placement, safety and QA/QC, and timely progress reporting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction experience, power plant projects preferred.
• Strong civil/earthwork, rebar fabrication and concrete placement expertise.
• Experience with safety, environmental compliance, and QA/QC processes.
• Candidates at varying levels considered based on qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance by the contractor and subcontractors across civil/earthwork, rebar, concrete placements, mechanical systems, piping, electrical and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental guidelines.
• Monitor schedule performance and progress.
• Validate milestones/quantities submitted by the contractor for payment.
• Assist in field problem resolution and provide field observations.
• Identify key work activities and communicate them to the team.
• Ensure construction QC processes are followed and quality is maintained.
• Participate in project/department meetings as required.

Job description

The Construction Specialist provides contractor oversight for field activities. This includes adherence to drawings and specifications, coordination of activities with existing facility, and oversight of safety, environmental, and QA/QC compliance. The role supports the Site Construction Manager in contractor management and serves as the interface for Discipline Engineers on construction issues.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor performance by the contractor and their subcontractors regarding civil/earthwork, rebar fabrication/concrete placements, mechanical systems and piping (underground and above ground), electrical and instrumentation systems
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental work practices
• Monitor performance against the schedule
• Validate milestones and/or quantities submitted by the contractor for payment
• Assist in resolution of field problems as appropriate
• Identify and provide field observations of key work activities
• Ensure the quality of construction through continuous monitoring of the construction and installation QC process
• Communicate and collaborate with team members daily to address construction issues
• Attend project and department meetings as required

Requirements - education & experience

10+ years of experience in construction. Strong civil/earthwork/rebar fabrication/concrete placement experience in power plant construction is preferred. Candidates at various experience levels will be considered depending on qualifications.

Work hours: 40-70 hours per week with possible night shift coverage. Valid driver's license required; will be required to operate company vehicles onsite.
