Job summary

CME Associates is seeking a Construction Special Inspector to perform field tests and inspections on soils, concrete, and related materials in the Greater Elmira, NY area.

The role requires an HS Diploma with a Civil Engineering/Geology-related degree preferred, plus ICC/ACI certifications or EIT. A valid driver’s license is required and you will coordinate with project managers daily.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Degree in Civil Engineering / Technology, Geology, or related is ideal.
• Must possess ICC Certification for one of the listed Special Inspector Categories, or ACI Grade 1, or EIT Certificate.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, teammates, and clients via clear communications and proactive progress reporting.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and inspections for soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforced concrete, masonry, welding & bolting, fireproofing & firestopping, geotechnical investigations, and more.
• Read construction drawings and specifications and correctly interpret test results.
• Complete assignments accurately and in accordance with established standards.
• Record and report test results clearly and concisely.
• Communicate regularly with project managers.
