Job summary

CME Associates, Inc. is seeking a Construction Special Inspector to perform tests and inspections on soils, concrete, and related materials for high-profile commercial projects in the Greater Syracuse, NY area.

You will read drawings, interpret test results, and maintain clear field and final reports for project managers. Applicants should have an HS diploma; civil engineering or geology-related degree preferred; ICC certification in one listed category or ACI Grade 1, or EIT; and a valid

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Degree in Civil Engineering / Technology, Geology, or related is ideal.
• Must possess ICC Certification for one of the listed Special Inspector Categories or ACI Grade 1 or EIT Certificate.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, teammates, and clients through clear communications and proactive progress reporting.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and inspections for soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforced concrete, masonry, welding & bolting, fireproofing & firestopping, geotechnical investigations, and more.
• Read construction drawings and specifications and correctly interpret test results
• Complete assignment accurately and in accordance with appropriate established standards.
• Record and report test results in a clear, concise manner.
• Communicate regularly with project managers.
• Complete field data records and associated reports daily.
• Prepare for and complete continuing education for certifications through the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC).

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, teammates, and clients, through clear communications and proactive progress reporting.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Compensation: $23 - 32 / hour
