Job summary

CME Associates, Inc. is seeking a Construction Special Inspector to perform inspections and material testing on high-profile commercial projects in the Greater Syracuse, NY area.

You will read drawings, interpret test results, and ensure compliance with established standards while coordinating with project managers and completing daily field data and reports.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma is required; a related degree is ideal.
• ICC Certification in reinforced concrete, soils, masonry, spray fireproofing, steel & bolt or steel & weld, or ACI Grade 1 or EIT certificate.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with managers, teammates and clients.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and inspections for soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforced concrete, masonry, welding & bolting, fireproofing & firestopping, and geotechnical investigations.
• Read drawings and specs and interpret test results correctly.
• Complete assignments per established standards and report results clearly.
• Record and report test results and communicate with project managers.
• Complete field data records and daily reports.
• Prepare for and complete continuing education for ACI and ICC certifications.

Summary

Join our team as a Construction Special Inspector, providing essential inspections and material testing on high-profile commercial projects throughout the Greater Syracuse, NY area. Help ensure compliance on some of the regions most exciting construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and inspections for soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforced concrete, masonry, welding & bolting, fireproofing & firestopping, geotechnical investigations, and more.
• Read construction drawings and specifications and correctly interpret test results.
• Complete assignment accurately and in accordance with appropriate established standards.
• Record and report test results in a clear, concise manner.
• Communicate regularly with project managers.
• Complete field data records and associated reports daily.
• Prepare for and complete continuing education for certifications through the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC).

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Degree in Civil Engineering / Technology, Geology, or related is ideal, although necessary.
• Must possess at least one International Code Council (ICC) Certification for one of the following Special Inspector Categories: reinforced concrete, soils, masonry, spray applied fireproofing, steel & bolt or steel & weld, or American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade 1, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate through a State Board.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, teammates, and clients, through clear communications and proactive progress reporting.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Compensation

$23 - 32 / hour
