Job summary

Morris Habitat for Humanity in the United States seeks a Construction Assistant to bridge our Construction Manager, supervisors and on-site teams, ensuring smooth builds. You will optimize material supply chains, organize the work site, and lead volunteers to complete community projects.

This full-time role (40 hours/week) requires a valid New Jersey driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and strong communication to coordinate with vendors, officials, and contractors, while upholding safety

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Valid New Jersey driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Access to a reliable vehicle suitable for hauling/moving materials.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse groups.
Comfortable using foundational digital tools (Word, email, browser).

Responsibilities

Procure and transport approved construction materials and tools from local vendors to active jobsites.
Coordinate collection and inventory of donated materials and building items.
Anticipate site needs to ensure field crews have proper tools and supplies.
Maintain organization and safety standards across construction areas and storage zones.
Interpret blueprints and construction plans to assist daily tasks.
Supervise and mentor volunteers on-site, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Represent Habitat for Humanity professionally to city officials, representatives, and contractors.
