WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Construction Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing all skilled service technicians/mechanics and support staff in the construction shop. This role assigns work, directs staff activities, and ensures that safe, appropriate, and efficient repairs are completed. The Supervisor serves as a key point of contact for both customers and internal leadership regarding service progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assign work within company facilities and at remote field locations to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Assist technicians with prioritization and coordination of field service jobs
  • Coordinate with technicians and parts teams to ensure parts availability and timely completion of work orders
  • Develop and maintain effective work schedules for technicians and support staff
  • Communicate service progress with individual and commercial customers
  • Partner with Product Support leadership on service updates and operational alignment
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned team members
  • Investigate and document work-related injuries and property damage incidents
  • Maintain work, vacation, and training schedules for assigned employees
  • Submit accurate time records for work performed and hours worked
  • Respond to customer service inquiries in a professional and timely manner
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma required; college and/or technical education preferred
  • Service technician training and/or equipment service & maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships, or manufacturer programs preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting experience on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and on‑call hours as required
  • Ability to travel as needed for meetings and training (less than 15%)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and develop technical teams
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and adaptability
  • Strong customer service focus and communication skills
  • High sense of urgency and self‑motivation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced service environment
