Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Construction Section Manager to provide leadership for the construction global practice, with a primary focus on Aviation & Federal projects. You will drive business strategy, build high-performance teams, and uphold our values of client satisfaction, safety, and integrity.

You will lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management, ensuring profitable growth while maintaining staff utilization and billable goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field with 5 years of construction experience; 10 years preferred.
• Experience leading and/or managing teams is preferred.
• Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and the ability to present complex information to all levels of staff and clients.
• Position requires ability to influence, lead, and manage change and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
• Responsible for profitable growth of the section; ensure staff levels, loading, and assignments meet project requirements while maintaining billable goals.
• Participate in planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing project objectives for construction workflows.
• Lead successful project execution and timely completion within budget, covering safety, quality, procurement, and environmental compliance.
• Coordinate communication between Engineering GP and Construction section and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Support programs and initiatives; navigate change within the section and monitor financial performance against targets.
• Oversee section budget, expenditures, scheduling, cash flow, and project status reports.
• Recruit, develop, train, and retain staff; conduct performance evaluations.
