Job summary

Acadian Companies in Houston, Texas, is seeking a Safety Specialist to promote, establish, communicate, and implement safety expectations and initiatives on-site. You will monitor conformance with safety plans, conduct risk assessments, and work with project teams to improve safety performance.

The role requires OSHA 10, 1–3 years of construction safety experience, and the ability to perform regular inspections, investigations, and safety reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
• OSHA 10 required.
• Associate's degree in safety-related field preferred.
• Willingness to work rotational assignments (e.g., 14x14).
• Current and valid state driver’s license.
• Knowledge of company protocols, procedures and safety policies.
• Strong reading, writing and communication skills with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Promote, establish, communicate, and implement safety expectations and initiatives; monitor and stimulate execution with contractor's safety policy, rules, and procedures.
• Monitor conformance with project and site safety execution plans and implement improvements where appropriate.
• Ensure land-based worksites are compliant with customer, state, and federal regulations; conduct risk assessments and inspections and provide corrective/preventive measures.
• Work with site management to implement the project and site safety programs.
• Conduct regular safety inspections/assessments on-site locations in accordance with safety plans.
• Inspect work environment for hazards and safety violations; conduct safety audits and report results to management.
• Monitor work processes to ensure compliance with the site work permit system and area responsibilities.
• Participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accidents; prepare notifications/reports per procedures.
• Advise site team on safety requirements, regulations, expectations, and best practices.
• Examine credentials, licenses, or permits for licensing compliance.
• Facilitate JSAs, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Lockout/Tagout, etc.
• Generate reports for management and customers.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
