Job summary

Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager for heavy civil construction in Queens, NY. Base salary ranges 110k–125k per year, with comprehensive healthcare, 401k, bonus potential, and PTO.

You will oversee safety across active projects, lead inspections, train crews, and ensure NYC/OSHA compliance. The role requires 3+ years of field safety experience, NYC SST Supervisor, and FDNY S-56 certifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction field safety experience, including jobsite inspections, hazard identification, and OSHA compliance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NYC 62-Hour Site Safety Training (SST) Supervisor credential.
• Valid FDNY S-56 Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Certificate of Fitness.
• Knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations, NYC construction safety requirements, and applicable jobsite safety procedures.
• Experience preparing daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and construction safety inspection checklists.
• Experience conducting construction site safety inspections, documenting hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, iPad-based applications, and digital safety documentation or reporting platforms.
• Experience preparing written safety reports, incident documentation, and compliance records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily construction site safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NYC DOB requirements, and HASPs.
• Prepare and maintain daily JHAs/JSAs and safety inspection checklists.
• Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement corrective actions to address unsafe conditions.
• Monitor field operations for safety compliance during equipment, excavation, and utility work.
• Conduct weekly toolbox talks, safety meetings, and on-the-job safety training.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and assist with root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate safety training and maintain employee training records.
• Monitor subcontractor safety practices and verify adherence to project requirements.
• Support safety audits and regulatory inspections; assist with corrective action plans.
