Here's How You'll Measure Your Success

You walk the work area first thing every shift. The site tells you what the day needs before anybody radios in.

You write the report the same day the event happened. Witness accounts, the timeline, photos, plain language narrative. It is on paper while the details are still true.

You follow a correction until it is actually fixed. A flag on a hazard is a start, not a finish. The finish is the control that keeps it from repeating.

You ask the person doing the work how they do it before you suggest a change. The crew knows the task better than the manual does, and you listen first.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Crews Work Safe Every Shift

You own the condition that work gets done the safe way on your assigned site, shift after shift. Site specific programs are in place and match the federal, state, and local rules that govern the work.

Daily observations and weekly audits catch hazards while they are still small. Unsafe conditions get documented and tracked to a closed corrective action. The job runs clean and organized, and equipment is accounted for at the end of each day.

Hazards Caught and Corrected at the Source

When something goes wrong, you find the cause and fix it so it does not happen twice. You investigate every incident, accident, and near miss by walking the area, interviewing witnesses, and going through the documents.

The written record is clear, factual, and complete. The injury log stays current with property damage, first aids, and recordables. Each finding turns into a correction that gets made and a control that prevents a repeat.

Field Crews Trained and Confident

Every person on the site knows the safe way to do the work before they start it. New hires complete orientation and the paperwork that goes with it. Refreshers and post incident retraining happen when the work calls for them. Operator training for forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts stays current for anyone who runs them.

Qualifications

What will help you succeed here:

• Five or more years of construction safety experience on active job sites, with steel erection or structural steel experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations, including the rules covering fall protection, confined space, hot work, lockout tagout, and chemical management.
• Experience leading agency inspections on site and serving as the contractor point of contact during the visit.
• A track record of investigating incidents, writing factual narrative reports, and closing corrective actions.
• Experience delivering new hire orientation, operator training for forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts, and ongoing compliance training to field crews.
• Comfort with SharePoint for document management and solid skill with common office software for reports, logs, and presentations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to brief executive leadership and coach foremen with equal credibility.
• Able to work independently on a single project site while reporting to safety leadership at the company level.
• Able to walk and work on uneven ground in extreme temperatures, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and aerial lifts.
• Able to wear conventional fall protection equipment rated to a 300 pound universal weight restriction.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
• A bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field is preferred.
