Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting seeks a hands-on Director of Construction Safety to lead safety operations for commercial construction, heavy civil, highways, bridges, and infrastructure projects across Maryland. The role focuses on proactive field leadership and building strong relationships with crews.

The ideal candidate will own the safety program, mentor field teams, and implement new safety practices and technologies to improve performance on 10–15 active jobsites.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications required.
• First Aid/CPR and traffic control/MOT certification required.
• 7–10+ years of construction safety experience in general contracting, heavy civil, highway, or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage company-wide safety programs across commercial construction, heavy civil, highway, and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee safety across approximately 10–15 active jobsites throughout Maryland.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and corrective-action planning.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MOSHA, and applicable construction safety regulations.
• Lead accident investigations, root-cause analysis, incident reporting, and workers' compensation matters.
• Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee education.
• Partner closely with superintendents, foremen, project managers, and field crews to promote a proactive safety culture.
• Mentor and oversee safety support personnel while continuously improving safety programs, reporting, and procedures.
• Introduce new safety practices, technologies, and initiatives to improve overall jobsite performance.
