Job summary

Brinkmann Constructors seeks a Safety Specialist to champion a culture of health and safety for employees, subcontractors, and the public. You will collaborate with the Operations team to prevent accidents and mitigate risk, and provide on-site safety training and direction.

Qualifications

• 6+ years safety experience on construction projects.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Experience managing safety on large construction projects preferred; prior field experience preferred.
• Ability to administer safety orientations and oversee substance abuse program.
• Ability to work with management, owners, trades and subcontractors.
• Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety efforts of Brinkmann employees and subcontractors.
• Discuss safety with on-site supervisory personnel.
• Coordinate with project supervision to ensure PPE and safety materials are used.
• Record and forward safety meeting notes, programs, inspections, and directives.
• Coordinate compliance with insurance inspection reports.
• Conduct documented Project Safety and Health Inspections.
• Investigate injuries and review accident reports; coordinate corrective actions.
• Keep required safety documents and literature current.
• Monitor public protection by minimizing construction hazards.
• Maintain OSHA 300 log of injuries and illnesses.
• Implement Brinkmann safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Work with Safety Manager, project managers, and superintendents to embed safety.
• Coordinate compliance with Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plans.
• Other duties as assigned.
