Job summary

EMERY SAPP & SONS is seeking a Project Health and Safety Manager to plan, implement, and oversee safety programs across our heavy civil construction sites in Missouri. You will identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, lead safety training, and enforce policies to prevent accidents and injuries.

This role requires collaboration with branch and project management, subcontractors, and craft employees to foster a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in heavy civil construction safety.
• Accredited four-year degree or equivalent in applicable field.
• OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 500 Certification.
• Certified Safety and Health Technician (CSHT).
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
• Safety degree or equivalent knowledge of safety best practices.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of the project Health and Safety Management Plan.
• Develop and deliver site-specific safety orientation for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and client-specific health and safety regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare required reports.
• Liaise with client, insurance carriers and regulators to facilitate audits and remedial actions.
• Coordinate health and safety efforts with project management, subcontractors, and site supervision.
• Conduct routine site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure control measures.
