Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Safety Intern to assist with activities related to safety and loss control on construction projects or office locations.

You will help implement Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday), identify hazards, coordinate safety duties, and assist with safety training and inspections under supervision. Strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive attitude are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Pursuing college/university degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field and minimum 1 year completed education
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques
• Desire to learn about construction management and safety practices
• Willingness to work standard hours and overtime as needed
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficient computer and data entry skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing safety programs on construction site or office location
• Identify and report safety violations and imminent hazards
• Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning and toolbox meetings
• Assist with safety training at meetings and orientations
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies
• Promote safe work practices per regulations and requirements
• Assist with drug screening program administration
• Document preconstruction meetings and inspections
• Maintain safety records and OSHA logs and MSDS inventories
• Assist with worker orientation and participation tracking
• Perform other duties under supervision as assigned by manager
