Job summary

Harris is seeking a Safety Coordinator to help supervise and administer health, safety and fleet programs, ensuring a safe work environment. You will contribute to the company’s safety culture and drive incident prevention across multiple projects.

The role requires an Associate degree in OH&S, 2+ years of construction/industrial safety experience, and a strong knowledge of OSHA standards. Excellent communication and documentation are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required in Occupational Health and Safety, or related.
• 2+ years of construction/industrial occupational health and safety experience.
• Proficient understanding of OSHA standards and guidelines.
• Comprehensive knowledge of worker’s compensation documentation.
• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision and administration of safety/first aid and rescue squad activities. Assume total responsibility for safety operation when assigned to shift work.
• Participate in developing and conducting employee orientation training and supervisor training.
• Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air-sampling tests for confined space entry, and investigations of injuries and incidents.
• Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities and issue permits as required.
• Accompany safety, health and insurance inspections on walk through tours as required.
• Review safety journals to stay updated on protective equipment and materials.
• Assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
• Manage and maintain the division fleet; track vehicle maintenance and assign vehicles as required.
• Register and license all vehicles and keep inspections up to date.
• Pick tool orders for shipment to job sites, restock tools in warehouse, repair defective tools.
