Job summary

Gedeon GRC is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee inspection, supervision, and performance control on projects. They will act as the key agency representative, ensuring adherence to standards and contractual obligations, while coordinating with the contractor and project team.

The role requires hands-on site engagement, preparation of reports, and close collaboration with engineers to address deficiencies and ensure timely project progress and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience with construction inspection and management on infrastructure construction projects(highway/sewer/water).
  • NY Professional Engineer (PE)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Ability to become thoroughly familiar with contract requirements, site conditions, and special provisions including all relevant standards, requirements and stipulations.
  • Understanding of the agency's policies, procedures, and Infrastructure's Standard Construction Operating Procedures (SCOP's).
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry dealing with state and local agencies in New York on projects dealing with construction or repair of highways, bridges, tunnels, other structures.
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation and the coordination of people and resources.
  • Extremely organized and detailed oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple requests in a growing company environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in preconstruction meetings, site visits and evaluate conditions against contract requirements and prepare minutes/reports.
  • Advise Engineer-In-Charge of deficiencies, inconsistencies or conflicts in plans/specs.
  • Compile information on existing site conditions (taps, services, utilities as-built).
  • Receive, review and forward preconstruction engineering reports as necessary.
  • Meet regularly with the contractor to identify and resolve project issues, including interpretation of contract requirements.
  • Review and evaluate contractor's proposed progress schedule and monitor conformance; recommend corrective action.
  • Supervise construction inspection operations to secure contract compliance.
  • Participate in substantial completion and final punch list; recommend acceptance of work.
  • Monitor performance and initiate necessary actions including partial/complete default.
  • Supervise taking of measurements, surveys, photographs, and inspections.
  • Maintain safety by addressing hazardous conditions and ensuring public/workers safety.
  • Maintain daily diaries and other DDC records for project activities.
  • Prepare field memorandums, letters, accident reports, inquiries, complaints and logs.

Job description

Gedeon GRC is looking for a Resident Engineer to join our firm. This Resident Engineer is responsible and accountable for the inspection, supervision and control of performance on the project. This position is the key representative to the agency and is responsible for ensuring the project is meeting agency standards.

SALARY RANGE:

$70.00- $91.00 per hour. Pay commensurate with experience.

LOCATION:

Based on Project Assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in substantial completion and prior inspections, prepares and ensures completion of final punch list and recommends acceptance of the work.
  • Monitor performance and recommends, if necessary, the institution of partial or complete default actions.
  • Supervise and control the taking of all measurements, surveys, photographs and television inspections.
  • Take action to prevent or immediately correct hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions which may endanger the health or safety of the public and/or workers.
  • Maintain a daily dairy and other applicable DDC Standard Records for all project-related activities or ensure the project staff completes them accurately.
  • Initiate the preparation of field memorandums, letters, accident reports, community inquires, complains and keep a log of all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
