Job description

At Cooper Tacia, we’re building more than projects; we’re building a company where talented people can do meaningful work, take ownership, and grow.

Founded in North Carolina in 2003, Cooper Tacia is a dynamic general contractor serving clients across the Southeast. Our work spans complex commercial, industrial, manufacturing, education, government, multifamily, aviation and civil and environmental projects, but what defines us isn’t simply what we build. It’s how we approach the work: with creativity, collaboration, accountability, and a drive to continually raise the standard.

We’re growing, and we’re looking for people who want to grow with us. People who bring ideas to the table, build strong relationships, take pride in their work, and want to make an impact on the projects, partners, and communities we serve.

We are currently seeking a Quality Control (QC) Manager to serve as the designated Contractor Quality Control Manager and administer the Contractor Quality Control (CQC) program in accordance with project specifications for applicable federal and government projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control Plans in accordance with contract requirements, company procedures, and owner expectations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, submittals, shop drawings, product data, and testing requirements before construction activities begin.
  • Lead and document the Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-Up phases of control for applicable work activities.
  • Establish inspection and test plans, quality hold points, documentation requirements, and acceptance criteria for each definable feature of work.
  • Verify that materials, equipment, and installed work conform to approved submittals, specifications, applicable building codes, manufacturer instructions, and project requirements.
  • Conduct preparatory meetings before each new definable feature of work begins to verify approved documents, material readiness, workforce qualifications, inspection requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Perform initial inspections at the start of each work activity to confirm workmanship standards, approved mockups, tolerances, testing requirements, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine follow-up inspections to verify ongoing compliance and prevent recurrence of deficiencies.
  • Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure subcontractors understand and follow project quality procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with governing codes, ASTM/ANSI standards, project specifications, commissioning requirements, and applicable federal requirements.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely QC records, including daily reports, inspection reports, testing logs, deficiency logs, photo documentation, meeting minutes, and corrective-action records.
  • Review and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, test reports, certificates of compliance, warranties, and closeout documentation.
  • Prepare required quality-control reports for project management, owners, architects/engineers, and government representatives.
Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of progressive commercial construction experience, including 3-5years in quality control, quality assurance, superintendent, project engineer, or project-management roles.
  • Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM/CQM-C) certification from a USACE- or NAVFAC-recognized provider; certification must remain active throughout employment and project assignment.
  • Experience as the designated QC Manager/Contractor Quality Control System Manager on USACE, NAVFAC, Department of Defense, VA, GSA, or other federal construction projects.
  • Experience with UFGS Section 01 45 00 or other government quality-control specifications.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.
  • ICC, ACI, AWS, NICET, ASQ, LEED, commissioning, or trade-specific inspection certifications relevant to the company’s work.
  • High standards of workmanship, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and confidence to address quality issues constructively and decisively.
  • Strong field presence and credibility with craft teams and subcontractors.
  • Organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple documentation streams.
  • Collaborative communication with owners, design professionals, government representatives, and internal project teams.
  • Ability to balance quality, constructability, schedule, cost, and client expectations without compromising contract compliance.
  • Commitment to a safe, professional, and continuous-improvement-oriented work environment.
