Job summary

Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the project's Quality Control Program on commercial and federal construction projects. This role oversees submittals, RFIs, inspections, and documentation, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and approved submittals.

Collaboration with project managers, superintendents, owners, and subcontractors is essential to deliver high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in structural, mechanical, electrical, or related construction field.
  • Minimum 3 years coordinating submittal processes and 5 years construction experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of NAVFAC and USACE QC controls, regulations, and project experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour, First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Prolog, Bluebeam; understanding of Primavera scheduling and BIM.

Description

Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and execute the project's Quality Control Program on commercial and federal construction projects. This role is responsible for implementing the Three Phases of Control, managing submittals and RFIs, conducting quality inspections, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring all work complies with project plans, specifications, and approved submittals.

The Quality Control Manager is a key member of the project team, working closely with project managers, superintendents, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel to deliver high-quality construction projects safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspections
  • Implement and maintain the project Quality Control Program.
  • Execute and document the Three Phases of Control, including Preparatory Meetings, Initial Inspections, and Follow-Up Inspections.
  • Verify construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, approved submittals, and contract requirements.
  • Document inspections and maintain quality control records.
  • Support project teams in identifying and resolving quality issues before they impact schedule or performance.
Submittals, RFIs & Documentation
  • Manage the submittal process, including logging, review, tracking, distribution, and compliance verification.
  • Manage the RFI process, including creation, tracking, distribution, and record maintenance.
  • Document project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Maintain electronic as-built drawings and red-line plans.
  • Manage project closeout documentation and turnover packages.
Project Closeout & Coordination
  • Lead the punch list and project closeout process.
  • Coordinate corrective work with subcontractors and track completion.
  • Support owners, project teams, and subcontractors throughout construction and final turnover.
  • Utilize construction technology and software to support quality management initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills
  • Engineering Degree in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or other Construction Related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing and coordinating submittal processes and performing quality control inspections of the work with a minimum of 5 years of construction experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of NAVFAC and USACE QC controls, regulations, and project experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour, First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Prolog, Bluebeam as well as an understanding of Primavera scheduling and BIM.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform all duties in a digital/paperless environment.

Wage Transparency

In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the base salary range for this position is: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00

The determination of salary is based on the candidate's individual professional experience, qualification, education, skills, and training.

Job Demands

Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk, and stand. Individuals should also be able to lift, carry and/or moving items up to 50lbs. May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions. Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Works hours will vary depending on project specifications and may involve weekends and night work.
