Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking a qualified inspection professional to lead material testing and quality oversight on construction projects in Washington. You will review drawings, report findings, and coordinate with the main office on scheduling and sample pickup.

The role includes supervising junior inspectors and ensuring compliance with contract documents, specs, and RFC plans. Ideal candidates bring experience in project quality, strong communication skills, and relevant WABO certifications across

Qualifications

• Experience in project quality roles preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 3 years experience plus technical/Associate degree or 5 years inspection experience.
• Multiple WABO certifications including Prestressed Concrete, Shotcrete, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding, Structural Wood, Structural Masonry, Spray-Applied Fire-Resistive Materials, Cold-Formed Steel Framing, Fire-Resistant Penetrations and Joints.

Responsibilities

• Review approved construction drawings and specifications.
• Communicate findings to contractors, foremen, superintendents, and project managers.
• Write concise inspection reports aligned with contract docs and codes.
• Supervise and train junior inspectors and testing technicians.
• Perform observations related to concrete, steel, and civil works.
• Inspect materials for compliance with plans and specs.
• Ensure work conforms to contract, specs, and RFC plans.
• Complete quality records and initiate non-conformance when needed.

Job description

• Material Testing (Certifications Required)
• Review approved construction drawings and specifications
• Communicate with contractor workers, foremen, superintendents, project managers, building inspectors and report findings
• Write concise inspection reports using specific language pertaining to contract documents, approved drawings, and any applicable code
• Communicate with main office to report inspection observations, scheduling and sample pick up coordination
• Supervise and train junior inspectors and testing technicians
• Perform observations and inspections mainly related to Concrete/Steel/Civil
• Inspection and verification of materials for compliance to the plans and specifications
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with the Contract, Specifications, and RFC plans
• Accurately complete quality records relating to material testing, hold-point inspections, and material receiving
• Initiate non-conformance processes when materials, products, tools, equipment or Work do not meet the required specifications
• Review of contract documents
• Study project specifications to determine appropriate construction methods and procedures
• Ensure that contractors comply with specifications
• The ability to obtain certifications to perform in-field material testing

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Certifications

• (Preferred but not limited to) Previous experience in a project quality role
• (Preferred but not limited to) Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or Three (3) years’ relevant work experience plus a technical or Associate’s degree, or five (5) years of relevant inspection experience
• Multiple WABO certifications with critical needs in bold: Prestressed Concrete (PC), Shotcrete (SC), Structural Steel and Bolting (SSB), Structural Welding (SW), Structural Wood (SWD), Structural Masonry (SM), Spray-Applied Fire-Resistive Materials (FP), Cold-Formed Steel Framing (CF), Fire-Resistant Penetrations and Joints (FS)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license
• Energetic, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload
