Job summary

Murray Company Mechanical Contractors is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support our job sites by sourcing materials and services, negotiating the best pricing, and coordinating with project managers and field teams. The ideal candidate will ensure timely deliveries and maintain strong supplier relationships while aligning purchases with project budgets.

Applicants should have 5+ years of purchasing experience, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with Excel and procurement processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years purchasing experience in construction or similar industries.
• Ability to read drawings and specs and compare vendor quotes to budgets.
• Strong negotiation, communication and supplier management skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure timely procurement.
• Partner with project managers and field teams to define purchasing needs.
• Review submittals and specifications to confirm material compliance.
• Obtain vendor quotes, negotiate pricing and terms for projects.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders for major equipment.
• Track long-lead items and coordinate deliveries with project schedules.
• Monitor spend against budgets and flag variances.
