Job summary

Mid-States Millwright & Builders is seeking a Project Engineer to own planning and scheduling for construction projects. You will build and maintain schedules, sequence work, and ensure field has drawings, materials, and equipment on time.

Working with PMs, Superintendents, and Assistants, you’ll bridge design, manufacturing, finance, and field operations to keep projects on time and within budget. Room to grow with the company.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
• 2–5+ years of construction/project engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of scheduling methods including critical path and look-ahead planning.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Build baseline project schedules during preconstruction with PM and Superintendent.
• Keep schedules current and produce short-term look-ahead schedules for field use.
• Track progress with daily reports and RFIs, identify delays and recovery plans.
• Coordinate fabrication and delivery timing with design and manufacturing teams.
• Develop crew loading plans and approximate production rates for planning.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, and change log with PM and finance.
• Provide field drawings, lift plans, sequencing, and installation details.
• Monitor procurement and process project purchasing in ERP system.
• Evaluate schedule impact of changes and support cost projections and monthly reports.
• Lead or participate in schedule reviews with customers and subcontractors.
• Incorporate safety planning and site requirements into sequencing; promote safety standards.
• Support commissioning, start-up, punch lists, and closeout activities.
• Capture durations and lessons learned to improve future templates.
