CMTS, LLC is seeking a Construction Project Representative – Night Shift to join our Los Angeles team. This full-time, on-site role supports inspection, field coordination, and contract administration for major landside improvements at LAX.

The night-shift position requires coordination with LAWA, Caltrans, and city departments, plus diligent reporting, safety compliance, and documentation of daily construction activities to ensure projects meet plans, specs, and milestones.

About Your Role

The Construction Project Representative – Night Shift provides construction inspection, field coordination, contract administration, and project oversight support for major landside infrastructure improvements at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The Construction Project Representative will support the Resident Engineer and coordinate with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), Caltrans, City of Los Angeles departments, contractors, consultants, utility companies, inspectors, and other stakeholders. The position is responsible for monitoring nightly construction activities involving roadways, structures, complete streets, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signals, utilities, and related public infrastructure while helping ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, contract requirements, safety standards, quality requirements, and applicable agency regulations.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• A combination of education and directly relevant construction experience may be considered.

Required Certifications

• Valid California Driver's License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required LAWA security credentials and airport identification badge.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Safety Certification preferred.

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done

• Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible construction experience on multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience supporting public infrastructure, roadway, transportation, bridge, utility, traffic, or public works construction projects.
• Experience performing or supporting construction inspection, field engineering, construction administration, or construction management activities.
• Fundamental understanding of construction contracts and applicable construction codes, regulations, and laws.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, conflicts, or constructability issues within project documents.
• Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, field directives, change notices, change orders, daily reports, quantity calculations, and project documentation.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, inspectors, government agencies, utilities, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software.
• Ability to work on-site during night-shift construction activities at Los Angeles International Airport.
• Ability to use laptops, tablets, and/or iPads in the field for project documentation.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Previous construction experience involving Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
• Experience delivering roadway, transportation, utility, bridge, or public works projects in an active airport environment.
• Familiarity with the LAWA Design and Construction Handbook and LAWA project delivery procedures.
• Familiarity with Caltrans Standard Specifications, Construction Manual, and project delivery procedures.
• Familiarity with the Greenbook, Brown Book, and City of Los Angeles construction specifications and procedures.
• Experience coordinating with Caltrans, City of Los Angeles departments, utilities, and third-party agencies.
• Experience with alternate delivery methods such as Progressive Design-Build, Design-Build, and/or Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC).
• Experience supporting federally funded or prevailing wage construction projects.
• Experience with traffic control, environmental compliance, Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements.
• Experience with LAWA Area Shutdown Requests (ASR), Utility Shutdown Requests (USR), LAWA Impact Requests (LIR), or Caltrans lane closure requests.
• Experience with Caltrans encroachment permits and City of Los Angeles permit requirements.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or actively working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, PMWeb, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar construction/project management systems.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate with and support the LAWA Construction Inspection Division and City of Los Angeles personnel during nightly field inspections.
• Verify construction activities are performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, regulatory requirements, utility agreements, and applicable agency standards.
• Prepare and maintain inspection checklists for construction activities, field material sampling, and testing.
• Prepare detailed daily reports documenting contractor activities, manpower, equipment, quantities, progress, field conditions, and significant events.
• Maintain project records including conformed plans and specifications, photographs, quantity calculations, punch lists, and as-built documentation.
• Assist with the review and processing of submittals, RFIs, Field Directives, Requests for Task Orders, change notices, and change orders.
• Monitor contractor progress and participate in schedule reviews and short-term look-ahead coordination.
• Support enforcement of jobsite safety, traffic control, environmental requirements, MMRP, and SWPPP requirements.
• Coordinate field material sampling, testing, and source inspection activities with the quality assurance team.
• Provide field support during construction layout, staking, measurements, and verification of contract pay items.
• Assist with the preparation and review of LAWA Area Shutdown Requests (ASR), Utility Shutdown Requests (USR), LAWA Impact Requests (LIR), and Caltrans lane closure requests.
• Assist with Caltrans encroachment permits and permits required by City of Los Angeles departments.
• Coordinate field activities involving utilities and third-party agencies.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, field walks, punch-list activities, and final acceptance inspections.
• Coordinate with LAWA PM/CM, LAWA Quality Inspection Division (QID), Design-Build teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and local agency representatives.
• Identify and document construction discrepancies, field conflicts, quality concerns, and potential constructability issues.
• Support contract administration and project documentation through construction and project closeout.

Salary:

$102,000 - $146,000 annually

Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, skills, certifications, and other job-related factors.

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
