Job summary

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES/VSL seeks a Project Manager for its Florida Heavy Civil team based in Pompano Beach. You will lead complex civil construction projects, including post-tensioning work, bridge repairs, and structural strengthening, while coordinating material buyouts, subcontracts, and schedule with internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a civil/construction background, 3–8 years of project management experience on $1M–$10M contracts, and proficiency in PM tools. Travel 20–25% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
  • 3-8 years of relevant civil construction industry experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and $1M-$10M contracts.
  • Experience in heavy civil or post-tensioned projects: structural concrete placement, beam erection, structural strengthening, CFRP installation.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, HCSS, MS Project or Primavera P6, Procore and other PM/forecasting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute self-performed complex civil and commercial construction projects (e.g., bridge inspection/repair, post-tensioning, structural strengthening).
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts with internal teams.
  • Develop and manage schedules with field leadership and clients.
  • Maintain project profit & loss, budgets, cost-to-completes, change orders, and other financial reporting.
  • Oversee buyout of materials, equipment rental, drawings and subcontractor management.
  • Collaborate with estimators and sales to review bids and proposals.
  • Mentor and lead project teams and field crews within the Heavy Civil division.

As Project Manager, the successful candidate would support our VSL Florida Heavy Civil team based in Pompano Beach, FL, and our work throughout the Southeast region. In this position you will have responsibilities for managing complex and specialty civil construction projects within a vibrant, growing team as follows: Demonstrate a dedication to safety and quality control on all aspects of project management while providing leadership expectations to field teams.Planning and executing self-performed complex civil and commercial construction projects such as bridge inspection and repair, post-tensioning installation and repair, and structural strengthening on both new construction and repair and restoration projects. Scopes can include material supply, subcontracting, design-build, and self-perform installation with our field crews.Preparing and implementing contracts including negotiating revisions while working with internal contracts teams.Developing and managing schedules in collaboration with field leadership and clients.Maintaining project profit & loss responsibility as well as other project financial reporting including projections, budgets, cost to completes, change orders, etc.Overseeing the buyout of permanent and temporary materials, equipment rental, drawing and work plan submittals, and subcontractor management.Integration into the heavy civil division providing strong leadership qualities and direct supervision to project teams (including other Project Managers, Field Managers, Project Engineers, and field crews) and subcontractorsWorking closely with in-house Estimators and Sales teams to assist in reviewing bids and developing proposals.Developing and maintaining strong customer relationshipsCandidates should as a minimum meet the following criteria:Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil / Structural Engineering or related field of study3-8 years of relevant civil construction industry experienceProven experience to manage multiple projects at any one timeDemonstrated capability to successfully manage construction projects in the range of $1 Million - $10 Million in contract valuePrevious experience managing heavy civil or post-tensioned projects that include structural concrete placement, beam erection, structural strengthening, CFRP installation or similar activities.
