Job summary

5 Structural Technologies, LLC is seeking a Traveling Construction Superintendent for Northeast operations to support large post-tensioned and cable-stayed bridges. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, lead planning activities, and motivate teams while ensuring safety at all times.

Position

Traveling Construction Superintendent – Northeast operations, supporting large post‑tensioned bridges, cable‑stayed bridges, bridge inspections & repairs, bridge lifting & lowering.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Division Managers, and other leaders within VSL.
  • Oversee and manage overall project safety and provide leadership to the company’s Safety 24/7 culture.
  • Lead pre‑project and pre‑task planning activities with CM’s & PM’s, then disseminate planning details to field teams.
  • Motivate team members to accomplish tasks, coordinate work activities with other construction project activities, and assign work to employees based on material and worker requirements.
  • Ensure crews operate all tools and equipment safely and productively.
  • Provide training and assistance to field managers and crews in the performance of work‑related tasks.
  • Assist Project Managers in evaluating production rates related to the project.
  • Complete all essential paperwork accurately and clearly.
  • Interview and hire new field employees.
Qualifications
  • High school degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in heavy civil and bridge construction projects, CIP & Precast Segmental Erection, Cable Stay installation and post‑tensioning a plus.
  • Ability to travel and/or relocate to projects for extended durations.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage various levels of field managers and oversee divisional field operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and execute construction drawings and contract specifications, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the company’s operating principles.
  • Experience producing look‑ahead schedules and working with construction documents.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers, crew and project teams.
  • Intermediate computer and construction math skills.
  • Bi‑lingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.
