Job description

Are you a detail-oriented leader with the technical knowledge to manage complex commercial glazing projects? We’re looking for a Project Manager to oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout, with direct responsibility for planning, budgeting, material procurement, submittals, fabrication coordination, installation sequencing, and stakeholder communication. You’ll ensure complete and accurate material packages are released on time, projects are delivered safely and within budget, and the finished work meets Miller Glass’s quality standards.

Project Manager – Commercial Glazing

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary

Reports To: Operations Manager

Hiring Timeline: Immediate

What You’ll Do
  • Project Planning and Execution — lead assigned projects from turnover through closeout by developing and maintaining project schedules, procurement logs, submittal schedules, fabrication milestones, installation plans, manpower needs, and closeout requirements; identify critical-path activities and address potential delays before they affect the work.
  • Budget Management and Forecasting — manage project budgets, material buyout, labor forecasts, subcontractor costs, change orders, and cost-to-complete projections; review actual costs against estimates and take timely corrective action to protect approved gross-margin targets.
  • Documentation and Submittals — prepare, review, submit, and track product data, shop drawings, samples, RFIs, substitution requests, change documentation, warranties, and closeout records; confirm that approved submittals align with contract documents, field conditions, fabrication requirements, and material releases.
  • Material Procurement, Vendor Coordination, and Logistics — prepare accurate takeoffs and purchase orders; verify quantities, finishes, glass types, aluminum systems, door hardware, accessories, and approved substitutions; coordinate releases with approved submittals and verified field dimensions; review order acknowledgments, monitor lead times and deliveries, and resolve shortages, damage, or incorrect materials before they disrupt fabrication or installation.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication — serve as the primary project contact for general contractors, owners, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams; lead coordination meetings, document commitments, communicate schedule and scope changes, and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Field Coordination and Quality Control — coordinate with field leadership to verify openings, dimensions, substrates, embeds, blocking, waterproofing interfaces, access, and site readiness before releasing materials or mobilizing crews; support installation sequencing, inspect work for compliance with approved documents and Miller Glass standards, and drive timely resolution of punch-list items.
  • Billing and Pay Applications — prepare accurate, timely schedule-of-values updates, monthly pay applications, stored-material documentation, change-order billing, and supporting records; monitor approvals, retainage, collections, and payment status while coordinating with accounting to resolve discrepancies.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive and experienced Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality glazing projects. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership ability, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial construction project management; glazing or façade experience required.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Strong ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, details, door and hardware schedules, approved submittals, and field dimensions and translate them into accurate material takeoffs, purchase orders, fabrication information, and installation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of commercial aluminum entrances, storefront, curtain wall, window wall, and related glazing systems from major manufacturers such as Oldcastle Building Envelope, YKK AP, Kawneer, Trulite, and comparable suppliers, including the ability to interpret catalogs, details, limitations, fabrication requirements, and installation instructions.
  • Strong working knowledge of aluminum entrance and door hardware, including pivots, continuous hinges, closers, panic devices, mortise and deadlatch hardware, cylinders, electric strikes, access-control interfaces, thresholds, weathering, and coordination of hardware sets with plans, specifications, schedules, and approved submittals.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience preparing material takeoffs, issuing and reviewing purchase orders, comparing vendor quotations, verifying order acknowledgments, managing long-lead releases, tracking procurement status, and resolving shortages, substitutions, and damaged or incorrect materials.
