Job summary

RK&K is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager for Southeast Georgia to lead heavy civil, highway, and structures projects and to coordinate CEI teams on DOT projects. You will manage bridge, urban, or interstate reconstructions and supervise inspectors and administrative staff in the field.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of roadway and structures construction experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of DOT manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and project plans.
  • Ability to train and supervise inspection staff.
  • Understanding of QA/QC development and execution process.

Responsibilities

  • Review monthly estimates, final estimates, change orders, and claims.
  • Facilitate preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and pre-activity meetings.
  • Respond to field questions and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress and adherence to plans.
  • Manage project inspection staff and ensure their training and equipment needs are met.
  • Participate in plan reviews, scoping meetings, and staffing projections.
  • Interact with clients and participate in project interviews when necessary.
  • Provide miscellaneous support as required.
  • Uphold high integrity and ethics in all dealings with clients and partners.

Job description

RK&K is currently hiring an experienced Construction Project Manager with experience in Heavy Civil/Highway construction project administration and management to join our team in Southeast Georgia. As a Project Manager at RK&K you will manage complex bridge, urban, or interstate reconstruction projects and strengthen our CEI teams Georgia. Must have experience leading construction management teams of inspectors and administrative staff on DOT projects.

Essential Functions
  • Management and administration of heavy civil, highway and structures projects including leading teams of Junior Project Engineers, Office Managers, Senior Inspectors, Inspectors, CPM Reviewers, and administrative staff on projects
  • Responsibilities include the review of monthly estimates, final estimates, change orders/supplemental agreements, and claims
  • Facilitating preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and pre-activity meetings
  • Responding to questions which may arise in the field during construction and working to determine the appropriate solution
  • Visiting construction sites to monitor project progress and adherence to plans and specifications
  • Managing project inspection staff and ensuring their training and equipment needs are met
  • Participating in plan reviews, project scoping meetings, and staffing projections
  • Interacting with clients and participating in project interviews, when necessary
  • Miscellaneous support activities, as necessary
  • Must possess high integrity and ethics in all aspects of dealing with clients, subconsultants, and peers
Required Skills and Experience
  • Ten (10) + years of experience in roadway and structures construction
  • Five (5) + years of experience managing construction projects in Georgia
  • Advanced working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment
  • Working knowledge of DOT manuals, policies, and procedures, include the Construction Manual
  • Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications
  • Ability to train, coordinate, and supervise inspection technicians in the field
  • Understanding of QA/QC development and execution process
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager
  • Bachelor’s in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification
  • Traffic Control Certification
  • Previous experience with GDOT, especially as Project Engineer
  • Previous experience managing projects in Georgia
Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20–30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
