Job summary

Nikhi Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead NYCSCA construction projects from planning through closeout. The role requires hands‑on leadership, coordination with officers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful project delivery.

Based in Woodbridge, NJ with frequent NYC site travel, you will manage mobilization, meetings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, costs, and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years directly managing NYCSCA construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NYCSCA procedures, documentation, meetings, billing, change orders, RFIs, submittals, inspections, and closeout requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and vendors.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project schedules.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with Project Officers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Proficiency with standard construction/project management and MS Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between Woodbridge office and NYC project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned NYCSCA projects from mobilization through completion and closeout.
  • Attend and lead bi-weekly progress meetings, job meetings, and coordination meetings.
  • Maintain regular communication with NYCSCA Project Officers, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare, track, and follow up on RFIs.
  • Manage the submittal and shop drawing process and ensure timely approvals.
  • Identify, prepare, price, track, and submit change orders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and monitor their progress, manpower, and contractual obligations.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and verify completed work.
  • Coordinate material procurement and place orders with vendors.
  • Review daily reports and monitor daily project activities.
  • Perform regular site visits and coordinate with field supervisors.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term project plans.
  • Maintain and update the project schedule and identify potential delays.
  • Coordinate required project inspections and follow up on deficiencies.
  • Prepare and process monthly billing.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, procurement, deliveries, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain organized and complete project documentation.
  • Proactively identify project risks, schedule impacts, and potential change‑order work.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch list completion, final inspections, and required documentation.

Project Manager – NYC Public Construction / NYCSCA Projects

Nikhi Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team and manage construction projects primarily for the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA).

Location: Woodbridge, New Jersey

Project Locations: New York City – frequent travel required

Salary: $75,000 – $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years managing NYCSCA projects

Position Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day and long-term management of assigned NYCSCA construction projects from planning and mobilization through construction, closeout, and final completion.

We are looking for a hands‑on Project Manager who understands NYCSCA procedures and can effectively coordinate with Project Officers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and our internal management team.

Key Responsibilities

Work Location & Travel

This position is based at our Woodbridge, New Jersey office. The Project Manager will be required to make frequent site visits and attend meetings at NYCSCA projects throughout New York City.

All authorized work‑related expenses, including applicable travel costs between the Woodbridge office and project sites, will be covered by Nikhi Contracting.
