Job summary

Civil Werx is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead land development projects from planning through delivery. You will manage budgets, schedules, and subcontracts while coordinating with engineers, developers, and municipalities to meet scope, cost, and quality targets.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with industry software, and a willingness to travel for site visits across the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of construction project management experience.
  • Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Sage 100.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage multiple land development projects from pre-construction to delivery.
  • Develop and update project schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate permitting with local agencies to avoid delays.
  • Review drawings, specs, and contracts for scope alignment.
  • Oversee subcontractors and cost control.

Job Description

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing land development projects from pre-construction through final delivery. This role includes managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and permitting processes to ensure successful completion of sitework such as grading, utilities, road construction, and stormwater management. The PM will work closely with superintendents, engineers, developers, and local municipalities to deliver projects on time, within scope and budget, and to high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of multiple projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use sites.
  • Develop and update project schedules and budgets, tracking performance and progress.
  • Coordinate permitting and traffic control with local agencies and municipalities so not to cause any delays to production.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure alignment with scope and client expectations.
  • Oversee management of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring performance and cost control.
  • Facilitate clear communication between internal teams, field personnel, clients, engineers, and government authorities.
  • Identify and resolve project risks, delays, or conflicts, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and development agreements.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management, preferably in land development or civil sitework.
  • Proven knowledge of grading, utilities, paving, and erosion control practices.
  • Familiarity with land development processes including permitting, zoning, and public infrastructure requirements.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Sage 100.)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Skills:
  • PMP or other project management certifications.
  • Experience working with municipal and utility coordination processes.
  • Bilingual (depending on region and workforce demographics).
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
