Job summary

BBSI is seeking a self-sufficient Construction Project Manager to join its expanding team serving Southern California since 1984. You will lead ground-up multifamily and commercial projects, coordinating subcontractors and field teams while maintaining schedules and budgets across the Greater Los Angeles area.

This role offers a competitive $100,000–$130,000 salary, plus benefits and growth opportunities. Strong communication, planning, and ownership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Proven project management experience in multifamily construction.
• Strong knowledge of ground-up construction processes and sequencing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and priorities.
• Self-sufficient, proactive, and able to own projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contracts.
• Solid organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel between LA-area projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage ground-up multifamily and commercial projects from preconstruction through completion.
• Coordinate multiple subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and field teams.
• Maintain schedules, budgets, contracts, and cost controls.
• Review plans, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project docs.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule.
• Collaborate with superintendents, estimators, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.
• Lead project meetings and communicate progress and solutions to stakeholders.
• Identify potential scheduling, cost, and constructability issues early.
• Support procurement, subcontractor buyout, billing, forecasting, and closeout.
• Travel between project sites across Greater Los Angeles as needed.

Driven by continued growth and a strong pipeline of new projects, the company is seeking a self-sufficient Construction Project Manager to join its expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and can confidently manage multiple subcontractors and projects.

Project Portfolio

The company specializes in:

• Multifamily apartment communities-the majority of its portfolio
• Ground-up construction
• Commercial developments
• Single-family residential projects
• Projects typically valued between $20 million and $30 million
• Project Territory: Greater Los Angeles (LA, OC, SB, Riverside and Ventura counties)
• The company self-performs rough framing and manages subcontractors across the remaining trades.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ground-up multifamily and commercial projects from preconstruction through completion.
• Coordinate multiple subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and field teams simultaneously.
• Maintain project schedules, budgets, contracts, and cost controls.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule compliance.
• Work closely with superintendents, estimators, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.
• Lead project meetings and communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
• Identify potential scheduling, cost, and constructability issues before they affect the project.
• Support procurement, subcontractor buyout, billing, forecasting, and project closeout.
• Travel between project sites throughout the Greater Los Angeles area as needed.
• Maintain company standards for safety, quality, professionalism, and client satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

• Proven project management experience in multifamily construction.
• Strong knowledge of ground-up construction processes and sequencing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and competing priorities.
• Self-sufficient, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Solid organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with Sage, Bluebeam, and/or Togal is highly desirable.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
• Ability to travel between projects throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.
