Job description

Build Communities. Protect Margins. Leave a Legacy.

Others drive them from a sketch on a napkin to ribbon-cutting day, all while juggling budgets, schedules, subcontractors, clients, RFIs, and the occasional surprise that seems to appear out of thin air.

If you're the second kind of person, keep reading.

Shuck Corporation is looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects throughout Central Indiana. We're a third-generation, family-owned general contractor with more than 40 years of building schools, public spaces, commercial facilities, and community-focused projects that make a lasting impact.

We're growing, and we're looking for a leader who wants more than a seat at the table. We want someone who wants to help build the table.

What You'll Do:

You'll take ownership of projects from preconstruction through closeout, serving as the quarterback, air traffic controller, and problem-solver-in-chief for every project you lead.

You'll work closely with clients, field teams, subcontractors, architects, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and with the level of quality Shuck is known for.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preconstruction & Project Planning
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to develop project strategies
  • Lead subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract execution
  • Build schedules, establish milestones, and identify critical path activities
  • Evaluate project risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Help set projects up for success before the first shovel ever hits the ground
Project Execution
  • Lead day-to-day project management activities from start to finish
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, and consultants
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting documentation, and reporting
  • Monitor progress, resolve challenges, and keep everyone moving toward the finish line
  • Manage project budgets and forecasts
  • Track costs, protect margins, and identify potential risks early
  • Ensure financial accountability from buyout through final billing
  • Keep production goals aligned with project profitability
Project Closeout
  • Oversee punch list completion and turnover activities
  • Deliver warranties, O&M manuals, as-builts, and closeout documentation
  • Maintain strong client relationships well beyond project completion
Leadership & Growth
  • Support and mentor project staff and field personnel
  • Champion safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Help refine systems, processes, and workflows as Shuck continues to grow
What You Bring:

We're looking for someone who's just as comfortable discussing contract language in the office as they are walking a jobsite in boots and a hard hat.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience
  • Proven success managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and scheduling
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience with Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with Procore, Sage, or similar project management and scheduling platforms
You might be a great fit if you:

Take ownership without waiting to be asked

Believe details matter because change orders don't write themselves

Can communicate effectively with executives, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients alike

Stay calm when challenges arise and focus on solutions

Want to help shape a growing company rather than simply work for one

Believe construction is equal parts planning, leadership, execution, and relationships

Why Shuck Corporation?

At Shuck, you'll find the stability of an established contractor with the energy and opportunity of a company that's continuing to grow.

What You'll Get
  • High-visibility leadership role with significant project ownership
  • Opportunity to influence company processes and future growth
  • Diverse portfolio of commercial projects ranging from $100K to $15M+
  • Strong pipeline of education, public-sector, institutional, and commercial work
  • Collaborative, family-oriented culture that values your voice and expertise
  • Long-term career growth with a respected Central Indiana contractor
  • $95,000 - $120,000/annual salary + performance based and annual bonus
