Job summary

University of South Carolina seeks a Construction Project Manager to coordinate renovation and infrastructure projects within the Department of Facilities Services. You will oversee contract administration and all phases from planning to closeout, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with standards.

Requires a Master’s in Construction Management and professional licenses (CCM/PE/PMP) with proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction project management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations governing facilities construction and modification.
  • Experience with contract procedures, bidding, architectural agreements and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to oversee subordinate project managers or consultants.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate renovation and infrastructure projects for the Department of Facilities Services, including contract administration and project lifecycle management.
  • Oversee project teams and consultants to ensure on-time delivery within scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate plans, progress, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
  • - Knowledge of principles and practices of construction project management, modern architecture, design engineering and facility construction.
  • - Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and modification of facilities.
  • - Knowledge of contract procedures, bidding procedures, architectural agreements and inspection procedures.
  • - Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing architectural or civil engineering project management for building or facility renovation projects and campus scale infrastructure construction.
  • - Ability to oversee the work of subordinate project managers or consultants.
  • - Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, design and construction consultants.
  • - Ability to communicate effectively.
  • - Ability to prepare, review and revise plans and specifications.
  • - Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision making.
  • - Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders.
  • - Typical projects include but are not limited to interior renovations, energy efficiency projects, roofing and exterior replacements, HVAC and electrical upgrades, in ground infrastructure and thermal plant modernizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • - Master's degree in Construction Management.
  • - SC Contractor's license, certified construction manager (CCM), professional engineer (PE), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
