Job summary

Related Midwest in Illinois seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support mid- to large-scale construction projects, including new builds and renovations. You will help manage preconstruction activities, scheduling, cost tracking, and field operations under senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent trade experience.
• 3–5 years of general construction experience required.
• Ability to manage portions of a project independently (e.g., submittals, RFIs, cost tracking, scheduling updates).
• Proficiency with Procore, Building Connected, Plan Grid, Textura, eBuilder, Microsoft Suite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support management of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout with increasing responsibility for assigned scopes and trade coordination.
• Assist coordination between project architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams.
• Support procurement and subcontractor buyout activities, including bid coordination and insurance compliance.
• Manage trade contractor documentation and workflows (RFIs, submittals, minutes, change orders).
• Support cost tracking and change management, including pay applications and cost reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency, constructability, quality, and schedule.
• Coordinate procurement schedules, material tracking, and trade sequencing with the project schedule.
• Communicate project updates in team meetings and drive timely resolution of issues.
• Support implementation of quality procedures and closeout activities for trades.
• Promote local business participation, workforce development, and community hiring goals.
