Job summary

Cerris Builders in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Project Engineer to support our operations and estimating teams on commercial construction projects. You’ll help prepare schedules, manage cost data, and coordinate with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers to drive on-time project completion.

Bachelor’s degree required; 1+ year of related experience preferred. This is an on-site position with occasional travel; strong teamwork and MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to collaborate with and function well within a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / estimating / reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

• Creates project management documentation that may include schedules, material purchases, cost management, progress charts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, jobsite controls, tracking reports, etc.
• Coordinates and communicates with owners, vendors, crews, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion.
• As required, conducts workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance.
• Develops operations and maintenance manuals and as builts, as required
• Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.
• In addition to the above, assists with estimating tasks such as proposal kickoff meetings and bid preparation.
