EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, On-Site

LOCATION: Sandia Laboratories, Livermore, CA

INDUSTRY: Construction | Mission-Critical Facilities | Federal / Government Infrastructure

REPORTS TO: VP of Construction

This position requires U.S. citizenship and local in the Livermore, CA area. Due to Sandia Laboratories' security requirements, all candidates must be able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain site access credentials.

Play a hands-on technical role in the construction of mission-critical, federally secured infrastructure at one of the nation's premier laboratories.

Are you a construction professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, coordinating multiple trades, and keeping large, complex projects on schedule and on budget? Do you want a hands-on technical role on a mission-critical, federally secured construction program?

PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support the SWIC/WUC construction program at Sandia Laboratories in Livermore, CA. The program is executed as a single, integrated project in the field, while being tracked as two separate projects — SWIC and WUC. Scope includes ground-up new building construction and large-scale utility infrastructure work on an active, secured federal laboratory campus.

You will own submittal review, RFI coordination, BIM/MEP clash resolution, and document control, working closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure design intent is preserved in the field and that procurement, fabrication, and installation are technically aligned.

At PTS Data Center Solutions, you will work alongside industry leaders on advanced mission-critical infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise and project engineering skills on a high-profile federal project while contributing to a growing organization built on innovation, accountability, and teamwork.

Essential Duties May Include
  • Manage the submittal process in Procore: log, route for review, track turnaround times, and close out; maintain submittal register against the spec.
  • Manage the RFI process: draft, log, route, follow up, and incorporate responses into field and shop drawings.
  • Lead BIM/MEP coordination in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks: support clash detection, trade interface coordination, and constructability review.
  • Support constructability reviews at 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100% design milestones; document and track comments and dispositions.
  • Maintain drawing and specification control: current sets, addenda, ASIs, bulletins, and as-built markups.
  • Support cost estimating at design milestones with quantity takeoffs and trade input.
  • Support buyout: scope sheets, bid tabulations, technical scope reviews, and subcontract exhibit preparation.
  • Coordinate 3rd-party testing and inspection submittals across both building and utility infrastructure scopes; track inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) to closure.
  • Compile and maintain commissioning documentation, equipment cut sheets, O&M manuals, warranties, training records, and record drawings.
  • Track long-lead equipment and materials from PO release through fabrication, shipping, and delivery; flag schedule risks.
  • Support change order pricing with quantity takeoffs, schedule analysis, and technical justification.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple trades onsite concurrently to maintain schedule and quality across building and utility work.
  • Attend weekly job meetings, design coordination meetings, and OAC meetings; document outcomes.
  • Support compliance with Sandia Laboratories site security, access control, and safety protocols at all times.
What Success Looks Like
  • Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Maintains accurate submittal, RFI, and document control logs with nothing falling through the cracks.
  • Dependable & Accountable: Takes ownership of technical coordination and consistently delivers on schedule.
  • Collaborative & Professional: Works effectively with the Superintendent, Project Manager, trades, and Sandia site personnel.
  • Proactive & Solution-Oriented: Identifies schedule and coordination risks early and drives them to resolution.
  • Security-Conscious: Consistently follows federal site access, security, and safety protocols.
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project engineering experience on large-scale commercial, institutional, r industrial construction projects, preferably $40M+ in value.
