Job summary

Connect Search, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to join our commercial and industrial construction team in Detroit. You will work directly with Project Managers and Superintendents, handling documentation, coordination, and follow-through to keep projects on time and within budget.

You'll gain hands-on experience across preconstruction through closeout, developing estimating and contract knowledge while growing into a full Project Manager role through mentorship

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of experience in construction project engineering, assistant project management, or field engineering.
• A recent construction management, engineering, or related degree with internship/co-op experience will be considered.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Clear written and verbal communication with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage the RFI and submittal processes end to end, logging, routing, tracking responses, and approvals.
• Help track and maintain project budgets, flag cost variances to the PM before they become issues.
• Review contract drawings and specs with the PM; spot scope gaps to prevent field issues.
• Support subcontractor bid review, contract drafting, and change order tracking.
• Communicate daily with the Superintendent to stay ahead of schedule and budget risks.
• Assist in preparing monthly draw requests and reviewing project costs.
