Actalent is seeking a Construction Project Engineer/QA Inspector to support structural steel erection on a large data center project in central Indiana. The role blends quality control inspection with project engineering, offering exposure to issue resolution, documentation, and field coordination on a four-month assignment based in Mooresville, IN.

The position requires reading drawings, documenting quality, coordinating with field teams, and supporting RFIs/submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher education in construction management or related field.

Job Title: Construction Project EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector/Project Engineer to support structural steel construction activities on a large-scale hyperscale data center project in central Indiana. This role combines aspects of both Quality Control Inspection and Project Engineering, involving drawing interpretation, quality documentation, problem tracking, issue resolution, field coordination, and project reporting. The initial assignment is expected to last approximately four months, with the possibility of extension based on project performance and future construction phases. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to both quality control and project management functions.

Responsibilities

• Track and resolve project quality issues.

• Maintain project documentation and quality records.

• Interpret drawings and verify work is installed per specifications.

• Support field personnel with technology, documentation, and coordination.

• Communicate with project stakeholders to drive issue resolution and keep work moving forward.

• Perform field quality inspections and verify work is installed per project drawings and specifications.

• Track, document, and help resolve construction quality issues and deficiencies.

• Assist with RFIs, submittals, material tracking, drawing updates, and project correspondence.

• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, field crews, inspectors, and third-party testing agencies.

• Support daily and weekly reporting requirements for the project team.

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

• Track punch list items and corrective actions through completion.

• Serve as a liaison between field personnel and project management teams.

• Assist field teams with construction technology platforms, document control systems, and project software.

• Participate in quality meetings, field walks, coordination meetings, and project planning activities.

• Monitor project issues and proactively communicate potential problems before they impact construction progress.

• Ensure project quality standards are met throughout structural steel erection activities.

• Support Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and problem resolution.

• Gain exposure to both Quality Control and Project Engineering responsibilities with increasing ownership over project tasks.

Essential Skills

• College Degree in Construction Management, Civil, or equivalent.

• Basic construction experience or construction-related education.

• Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings.

• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

• Experience with data tracking, recordkeeping, or project documentation.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Problem-solving mindset.

• Ability to communicate with field personnel and project stakeholders.

• Self-starter capable of working independently after training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Structural steel experience.

• Quality Control experience.

• Project Engineer experience.

• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar document management platforms.

• OSHA 30 certification.

• Exposure to RFIs, submittals, punch lists, inspections, or closeout documentation.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.

Work Environment

The work environment is onsite in a trailer, with a schedule of five 10-hour days and an additional 8-hour shift on Saturdays. The project involves working in a 24 ft tall building, with future projects potentially involving taller structures. The role requires comfort working in an active construction environment, with significant time spent outdoors.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Mooresville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
