Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Construction Project Engineer in Los Angeles, CA to plan, coordinate and execute challenging construction projects, including healthcare facilities. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, oversee subcontractor performance, maintain schedules and contribute to safety, quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include RFIs, meeting minutes, project correspondence, plan interpretation, risk assessment, field issue resolution, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Client, General Contractor, trade contractors, Architects and Engineers.
  • Organize, track and resolve RFIs.
  • Generate and distribute meeting minutes and project correspondence.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Assist in resolving issues in the field and monitor contractor performance.
  • Appraise project risks and create risk registers with mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of contractor activities.
  • Assist with monitoring work to ensure adherence to plans and quality control.
  • Review manpower, material, equipment requirements with Project Manager.
  • Support safety program compliance per OSHA requirements.
  • Prepare reports and keep supervisors informed of progress.
  • Maintain project records including diaries, logs, RFIs and submittals.
  • Support CPM scheduling and resource planning.
  • Interface with client and design professionals to ensure design intent.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Construction Project Engineer in Los Angeles, CA. In this role you will plan, coordinate, and execute challenging construction projects, including healthcare facilities and other complex developments. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, oversee subcontractor performance, help maintain project schedules, and contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with various project team members, including the Client, General Contractor, trade contractors, Architects, and Engineers.
  • Organize, track and resolve all incoming requests for information (RFIs).
  • Generate and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Generate and distribute project correspondence.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Assist in resolving issues encountered in the field.
  • Appraise project risks and create risk registers along with mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Contactor activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Assist with monitoring Contractor’s work to ensure adherence with project plans and that it promotes quality control.
  • Reviews manpower, material, equipment requirements with others as designated by Project Manager.
  • Assists with compliance of safety program that creates a safe and healthy work environment and adheres to OSHA safety and record keeping requirements.
  • Prepares reports, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal and external record keeping requirements.
  • Uses current construction management system to perform record-keeping tasks including, composing daily diaries, maintaining project logs and retrieving RFIs, submittal logs, agreements, etc.
  • Assists in monitoring the project pre-plan which includes a CPM schedule, work sequences, manpower utilization, material handling and storage requirements and equipment use.
  • When requested, interfaces with client, architect and design professionals to ensure compliance to design intent and client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to building good communications between field management, Project Management, Project Controls and Client.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction, or Engineering
  • Healthcare construction in California
  • Industry certifications such as EIT or PE.
Additional Information
  • Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000-$115,000.
