Job summary

AECOM seeks a Construction Project Manager (OAR) in Los Angeles to oversee design, construction and close-out of major facilities. You will lead as the client liaison among design teams, contractors, and regulators to ensure successful delivery of public-sector projects.

As Owner's Authorized Representative, you will manage budgets, schedules, and quality, coordinating with District staff and external agencies. This role emphasizes safety, compliance, and timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
  • Experience in commercial/public/educational facility construction with major projects.
  • CCM certification and BIM experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee pre-construction, bid, award, construction, and close-out phases.
  • Review pre-construction documents and provide comments to Designer.
  • Plan, organize, and prepare reports on status and progress.
  • Coordinate with public agencies during pre-construction and construction.
  • Manage daily contractor activities; review contracts, schedules, RFIs.
  • Monitor budget and schedule to meet client standards.
  • Review change orders and address schedule impacts.
  • Monitor payments to contractors and consultants.
  • Administer professional service agreements between architects and client.
  • Coordinate district delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Monitor project close-out with DSA and financial close-out.
  • Perform other related duties.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Construction Project Manager (OAR) to be based in Los Angeles, CA. As an Owner's Authorized Representative, you will oversee the planning, design, construction, and closeout of major facilities projects while serving as the primary liaison between the client, design teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful public-sector projects that enhance learning environments, improve community infrastructure, and support long-term client goals.

  • Manages, oversees and coordinates all facets of the pre-construction, bid and award, construction and close-out phase of all assigned projects
  • Reviews pre-construction documents and submits comments to Designer as necessary
  • Plans, organizes, and prepares reports to upper management with respect to the status and/or progress of the projects
  • Coordinates with all pertinent public agencies during pre-construction and construction to comply with all off-site work, coordinates with various District and Project staff
  • Manages daily activities of the contractor, reviews contracts, schedules, submittals, RFI;s, and other related documents.
  • Manages project budget and schedule to meet client standards; Monitors the project budget on a monthly basis and ensures that the budget accurately reflects the project status/progress
  • Reviews substitution submittals from contractors to ensure specification and/or District requirements are complied with
  • Receives, reviews, and negotiates Contractor Change Order Proposal(s) to achieve a fair & reasonable price in accordance with the General Conditions; reviews and addresses any and all Schedule impacts in accordance with the project specifications in a timely manner
  • Reviews the process and monitors payments for the contractor, architects, engineers and any other pertinent parties
  • Administers provisions of Professional Service Agreements between Architects and the client
  • Coordinates District delivery of related fixtures, furniture and equipment
  • Monitors and manages project close-out with respect to project certification with the Division of State Architects (DSA) and project financial close out
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fifteen years full time paid professional experience in Project/Construction Management of
  • Commercial and/or Public/Educational Facility Construction with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values in excess of $30M
  • CCM certified
  • Experience in utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
  • Experience in Formal Construction Partnering
  • Experience with the Division of State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes
  • Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $115000 to $175000.
