Job summary

IAPMO in Lenexa, Kansas is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This entry to mid-level role partners with project managers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors; manage RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; track procurement and costs; and help maintain safety and quality in accordance with contract documents.

Qualifications

• The candidate holds a relevant bachelor's degree and understands construction methods and scheduling.
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects is preferred.
• Proficiency with common CM software and MS Office is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with planning and execution of commercial construction projects.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project progress.

• Monitor project budgets, cost reports, and subcontractor commitments.
• Assist with project scheduling and identify risks or delays.

• Help facilitate project closeout, including punch lists and final documentation.
• Promote safety and ensure OSHA compliance.

Pay: $80k-$120k base (DOE) + bonus

Position Summary

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial construction projects.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project progress.
• Track procurement of materials and long-lead items to support project schedules.
• Monitor project budgets, cost reports, and subcontractor commitments.
• Assist with project scheduling and identify potential risks or delays.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate action items to the project team.
• Support quality control and ensure work complies with contract documents and company standards.
• Help facilitate project closeout, including punch lists, as-built drawings, warranties, and final documentation.
• Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all company and OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience supporting commercial construction projects.
• Understanding of construction methods, project scheduling, contracts, and building systems.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management software preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Commercial construction experience in healthcare, multifamily, mixed-use, municipal, or office projects.
• Knowledge of design-build or construction management delivery methods.
• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
