Construction Project Engineer

Position Classification: Full-Time Regular

About This Opportunity

As a Construction Project Engineer at Rockford, your role involves supporting all phases of construction projects and coordinating with the project team. You will interpret plans and specifications, compile contract documentation, track costs, manage documents, and handle administrative tasks. You will organize and oversee the construction process to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule. The Project Engineer reports directly to the project superintendent and select Project Managers, and may also perform some tasks typically handled by superintendents.

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, analyzing, and resolving field construction issues and design discrepancies. Key Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC on budget, schedule, plans, personnel, and subcontractor performance; report regularly.
• Respond to client requirements, concerns, or requests throughout the project.
• Review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain bid sites with plans, specifications, and addenda during the bidding process.
• Create scopes of work and assemble the Project Manual.
• Distribute, track, and compile bulletins and bulletin pricing for review.
• Maintain project information in project management software.
• Monitor and report construction progress and quantities.
• Provide updated unit prices to the estimating department.
• Attend project management meetings and document outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.

Experience and Skills:

• 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to surpass customer expectations.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Enthusiasm for improving individual and company performance.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
