Job summary

Willoughby Group in Columbus, OH is seeking a Project Accountant to serve as the financial backbone for the project management team, ensuring accurate cost tracking, validated invoices, and defendable budgets across a fast-moving portfolio.

You will work from the owner's side, coordinating with project managers, clients, and vendors, maintaining PMIS records (Procore, e-Builder, or similar) and supporting monthly cost reporting and cash flow projections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting or financial management experience in construction or real estate.
• Experience with construction pay applications, liens, and cost-to-complete forecasting preferred.
• Proficiency with PMIS platforms and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and process contractor and vendor invoices, pay apps, and lien waivers for the owner.
• Maintain project budgets, commitments, and cost-to-complete forecasts across active projects.
• Support TI allowance tracking and reimbursement processes with project managers and brokerage team.
• Reconcile costs against budgets and flag variances for PM review.
• Assist with monthly cost reporting, cash flow projections, and executive summaries.
• Maintain PMIS data integrity in Procore, e-Builder, or similar systems.
• Coordinate with auditors, landlords, and client finance teams as needed.
• Support project closeout and final lien releases.
