Job summary

Stevens Construction Corp. is seeking a Project Accountant to monitor project progress, manage billing and vendor records, and support closeout activities from our Madison, WI office.

The role requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with CPA preferred but not required. Responsibilities include preparing payment applications, tracking costs, maintaining Timberline/Toolwatch records, and resolving tax and contract queries while supporting the accounting team on AP overflow.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting or related field; Bachelor's preferred.
• CPA preferred, not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites; able to learn accounting software.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly owner payment applications, sworn statements, lien documentation, and other supporting documents to ensure timely project payments.
• Monitor project costs and billings to identify potential underbilling and track variances between contract and internal costs.
• Manage project equipment and consumable billing, including entering project charges and maintaining accurate records in Timberline and Toolwatch.
• Research and resolve tax, contract, vendor, invoice, and lien waiver questions as they arise.
• Prepare financial closeout documentation and assist with project closeout activities.
• Support Project Managers and the Accounting team with project-related financial tasks and Accounts Payable overflow as needed.
