Job summary

Hensel Phelps is hiring a Project Accountant in El Paso to support project management staff and primarily assist the Project Manager and Project Engineer.

Responsibilities include accurate financial reporting, revenue recognition, and project billing, with emphasis on contract terms and cost control across projects. A business or accounting degree is required, with CPA/Candidate status a plus.

Qualifications

• Business or Accounting degree required.
• Knowledge of construction accounting is essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage different personalities.
• Well organized and detail-oriented.
• A self-starter and great team player.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel preferred.
• Willing to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as needed.
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Engineers and Managers to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting, revenue recognition, and project billing.
• Understand contract terms and assist Project Managers in project start-up, close-out, internal interim audits and life cycle management.
• Prepare accurate billings to Owners in accordance with contract terms.
• Review project expenses for correct posting to projects.
• Reconcile cost data between project ledgers and accounting systems.
• Develop and maintain cost controls and labor recaps with the PM and Superintendent.
• Assist with monthly Margin Analysis and Cash Flow Forecast.
• Support monthly reporting for Senior Management and Owner.
