Job Summary

Construction Program Managers oversee the strategic planning, management, and execution of industrial construction projects for food and beverage production facilities. They ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards, while fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships. These managers oversee large projects, directing, supervising, and mentoring onsite construction managers.

Client Relations Responsibilities

  • Manage and foster client relationships by understanding needs, listening actively, and addressing feedback transparently.
  • Review project schedules, work progress, and budgets with clients.
  • Proactively communicate project progress, issues, and updates.
  • Set and manage project timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
  • Adapt to changing client needs professionally.
  • Build trust and rapport, delivering value and guidance.

Supervising Responsibilities of Construction Projects

  • Oversee site-based construction managers, field administrators, and technical staff from conception to completion, ensuring safety and providing guidance.
  • Review and monitor team work, mentor staff, evaluate performance, and manage deadlines.
  • Contribute field input regarding project accounting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Develop relationships with inspectors to ensure permit compliance.
  • Handle change orders and general construction administration.
  • Manage third-party testing and inspections.
  • Conduct jobsite walks and audits to monitor progress and efficiency.
  • Support facility startup and develop construction reports for clients.
  • Coordinate with project controllers on invoicing and billing.
  • Promote effective communication among project participants.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in industrial construction projects, preferably in Food & Beverage.
  • 15+ years working with subcontractors, motivating and resolving issues.
  • Proven ability to drive project schedules.
  • 15+ years of maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills, including familiarity with 3D models.
  • 7+ years of Design-build experience.
  • Professional and polished communication skills.
  • Understanding of all construction phases, capable of reading and interpreting documents and schedules, especially with MS Project.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% across the USA and possibly Canada.
  • Work schedule involves 10 days onsite, 4 days off.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as standing and walking on uneven surfaces at sites.
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in various weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Exposure to construction site hazards.
  • On-call availability for delays, emergencies, weather issues, and other site problems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirement

  • Position involves overseeing projects across the US and Canada, with a schedule of 10 days on-site and 4 days off, lasting typically 12+ months. Travel and lodging are provided, with up to 100% overnight travel required.
