Job Summary

Construction Program Managers oversee the strategic planning, management, and execution of industrial construction projects for food and beverage production facilities. They ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards, while fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships. These managers oversee large projects, directing, supervising, and mentoring onsite construction managers.

Client Relations Responsibilities

  • Manage and foster relationships with clients by understanding their needs, listening actively, and addressing feedback honestly and transparently.
  • Review project schedules, work progress, and budgets with clients.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and updates proactively.
  • Set and manage project timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
  • Adapt to changing client needs while maintaining professionalism.
  • Build trust and rapport with clients by delivering on expectations and driving value.
  • Provide guidance and share experience to build reliable professional relationships.

Supervising Responsibilities

  • Oversee site-based construction managers, field administrators, and technical staff from conception to completion, including safety oversight.
  • Review and monitor team work, mentor staff, evaluate performance, and provide guidance to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute field input to project management regarding budgeting and cost management.
  • Develop relationships with inspectors to ensure permit adherence.
  • Manage change orders and general construction administration.
  • Coordinate third-party testing, inspections, and relationships.
  • Conduct site walk-throughs and audits to ensure project progress and efficiency.
  • Support facility start-up activities.
  • Develop construction reports for client executives.
  • Coordinate with project controllers on invoices and billing.
  • Promote effective communication among project participants and stakeholders.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive site experience in industrial construction, preferably in Food & Beverage.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, motivating and resolving issues.
  • Proven ability to drive project schedules.
  • 15+ years of experience in building or maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills, including proficiency with 3D modeling.
  • 7+ years of design-build project experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, polished and professional.
  • Understanding of all construction phases, capable of reading and interpreting documents and schedules, especially with MS Project.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% across the USA and possibly Canada.
  • Work schedule involves 10 days onsite, 4 days off.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as standing and walking on uneven surfaces at job sites.
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in various weather conditions, including walking, climbing, bending, crawling, and reaching.
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards.
  • On-call availability for delays, emergencies, and weather issues.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements

  • Position requires extensive travel across the US and Canada, overseeing large projects with a 10 days on / 4 days off schedule, lasting over a year.
