Healthcare Construction Program Manager - HYBRID (2-3 DAYS WFH)

Position Overview

A growing construction and project advisory firm is seeking an experienced Healthcare Construction Program Manager to oversee a portfolio of capital improvement projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

This individual will represent the owner’s interests across projects involving hospitals, outpatient facilities, and medical office buildings. The Program Manager will provide leadership throughout planning, design, preconstruction, construction, and closeout while serving as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with healthcare construction experience who enjoys working directly with clients and managing multiple projects at different stages of development.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of healthcare construction and capital improvement projects
• Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for the client throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead project planning, design coordination, preconstruction, construction, and closeout activities
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, and healthcare stakeholders
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and progress reports
• Monitor project costs, schedules, quality, risks, and overall performance
• Review design documents, construction plans, estimates, proposals, and change requests
• Lead project meetings and communicate progress, concerns, and recommendations to clients and leadership
• Support contractor selection, procurement, contract negotiations, and project delivery planning
• Coordinate construction activities within active healthcare environments while minimizing disruptions to patient care and facility operations
• Identify potential project risks and implement proactive solutions
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure expectations are met throughout each assignment
• Ensure projects comply with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and organizational guidelines
• Oversee project turnover, documentation, punch list completion, and final closeout

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in healthcare construction project management, facilities management, owner’s representation, or client program management
• Experience managing capital projects within hospitals, outpatient facilities, or medical office buildings
• Strong understanding of healthcare planning, design, construction, and operational requirements
• Knowledge of construction budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, and project controls
• Strong financial, operational, and business acumen
• Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple concurrent projects
• Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and healthcare stakeholders
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant healthcare construction or facilities experience
• Previous experience working as an owner’s representative or managing a healthcare capital improvement program
